Eligibility
If you are an aspiring creative, developer, or entrepreneur who is 13 years or older, then you are eligible to apply to participate online for free!
If you want to join us onsite, you must be 18 years or older. We are unable to reimburse travel expenses, but we will provide all meals listed on our event schedule, and we do not charge for attendance.
✰ To participate, everyone needs to apply and submit a resume.
Preparations
We will notify each applicant of their acceptance status. As much as we want to include everyone as onsite participants, some of our venues will have limited capacities. Each applicant will be asked to confirm their specific attendance status and location, similar to a college applicant confirming their enrollment. This confirmation will help us prepare everyone's desired dietary requests and swag preferences.
We will do our best to secure venues that allow participants to stay overnight, but that is not always a guarantee due to various circumstances, so we will provide information on a range of transportation and hotel options in our Participants Handbook.
Bring your friends, laptops, phones, chargers, games, snacks, sleeping bags, preferred toiletries, and any other hackathon materials and supplies you may want. Also, always remember to bring a lot of energy for a fun weekend!
We will also provide workshops before the hackathon, as well as lots of mentors (on-campus and on our Discord channel) to help you design, develop, and demo real-world solutions involving artificial intelligence, blockchain / web3, or financial technology.
Our sponsors, such as Google, will also provide resources to help you navigate various technologies, such as Cloud and Gemini. If you need additional support, we recommend asking questions to each other and our mentors (on-campus and on our Discord channel), as well as searching online, especially Stack Overflow.
Submissions
Each submission may have a maximum of four teammates. Although we encourage teamwork, no one is required to work with anyone. Each team must design, develop, and demo products that incorporate:
- at least one of these two technologies
- artificial intelligence
- blockchain / web3
- at least one of these two themes
- medicine / medtech
- finance / fintech
Start submitting your solutions at our submission checkpoint on 11/08 (Saturday) at 8:00 pm PST.
Finish submitting your solutions before our submission deadline on 11/09 (Sunday) at 12:00 pm PST.
After submitting your solution, you can continue editing and updating your submission until the submission deadline, so submit early and often. Since we always have participants joining us from many different countries, we will not extend the deadline!!!
For more inspiration and ideas, check out our prize package. Our participants will be eligible for the usual hackathon prizes, as well as offers for internships and jobs, opportunities to sell their IP, and consideration for joining the fintech-focused Converge Accelerator.
Prizes
To be eligible for onsite prizes, you must present your product at one of our hackathon campuses on 11/09 (Sunday) in the afternoon. Onsite teams may also be eligible for global prizes.
To be eligible for global prizes, submit a pitch video (2-3 minutes) and the code base (GitHub repo URL) on 11/09 (Sunday) before 12:00 pm PST. Submissions may include supporting documents, files, images, etc.
✰ From 11/07 until 11/09, our global judges will use these evaluation guidelines to score pitch videos and code bases, then we will announce our winners at a Global Awards Ceremony on 12/06 (Saturday) at 8:00 pm PST.
Intellectual Property
❌⚠️ WARNING ⚠️❌ DO NOT include your project code's GitHub repo link on your submission page. We want to protect your intellectual property!!!
When you submit your product, you will send your GitHub repo link to the event administrators through a submission form. We will require all mentors and judges to agree to robust non-compete and non-disclosure agreements, and then we will allow them to access your project code for evaluation purposes. Of course, your code will need to remain publicly available during the evaluations phase, so when all evaluations are complete, we will remind everyone to set all repos to private.
